What is blank text?

Invisible text (also called blank text, empty text, or invisible character) is a special Unicode character that appears completely blank to the human eye but is recognized as a valid character by computers and applications.

Unlike the regular space you create by pressing your spacebar, invisible characters occupy character space and can be used in places where normal spaces aren't allowed - such as usernames, message fields, or forms that don't accept blank entries.

These characters are part of the Unicode system, which contains over 100,000 characters. The most popular invisible character is the Hangul Filler (U+3164), which looks like this: but appears completely empty when pasted.
